Don’t Forget to Hit These Stores on Record Store Day

Record Store Day is an annual event that began in the United States in 2007 and is held on one Saturday every April to celebrate the culture of independently owned record stores.

The event attracts fans and artists alike to thousands of independent record stores worldwide, where participating stores may choose to celebrate the event by hosting various festivities such as performances, meet & greets, parades, DJ sets and so on.

Rare and high in-demand vinyl records are pressed specifically for Record Store Day, with a unique list of releases for each country, and are only distributed to participating shops across the world. Among these shipments of vinyl records are special CD’s and various promotional items.

The first Record Store Day took place on April 19, 2008, this year April 22 marks its 10th annual event.

If you’re a vinyl collector or fanatic, this is an event you cannot miss. Here are several stores in the Manitoba area that are partaking in this event.
