Gord Downies “The Secret Path”

Tragically Hip singer Gord Downie has a new calling. Since diagnosed with brain cancer in May, the singer has been doing tons of charitable work and his new project is inspired by Chanie (Charlie) Wenjack. Chanie was a 12 year old boy who was in a residential school, and he ran away. The boy died of hunger and exposure trying to find his way home in 1966. The story of Chanie has inspired Gord, he’s created a graphic novel, a short animated film, and turned some poems into an album to educate others on this tragedy and Indigenous issues.

“I never knew Chanie, but I will always love him.” Downie spoke to CBC News on Friday, announcing plans to release the package in October. Gord Downie will be releasing “The Secret Path” the novel, album, and the film on October 18th. To hear more about Gord’s projects, click here.
