Walk A Mile In Her Shoes

Thompson held its seventh annual “Walk A Mile In Her Shoes” walk on Saturday and the event was a huge success! YWCA Thompson held their annual mile walk down Thompson Drive and is amazed with the amount of participation and donation. Hundreds of men saddled up in a pair of high heels for the charitable walk to raise awareness about violence against women. Political leaders in the area attended the event too, including Thompson MLA Kelly Bindle.

“Violence doesn’t just affect women and girls; it affects the men who care about them, their families, their friends, their coworkers and their communities.” spoke Kim Hickes at the beginning of the marathon walk. “It’s not easy to walk in high heels, but it is fun, and it generates a conversation that is really difficult to talk about: violence.”

The event brought in just under ten thousand dollars in donations, but you can still donate to the non profit women’s shelter through their website
