First Play Friday w/ MJ (Feb 26)

In First Play Friday, New Music

Every Friday (between 10a-1p), MJ features SIX brand new songs from artists you already know and love, and artists you will get to know and love.

If you missed today’s FPF, check out the songs featured below!

Eric Church – Never Break Heart

We kick off First Play Friday today with an artist who is preparing for the release of, not one, but THREE albums in April. The first, titled “Heart,” will drop on April 16, the second titled “&” on April 20. That one will be released on vinyl exclusively for Church Choir members, and the third called “Soul,” will be released on April 23.

Today, Eric Church shared a new song that will appear on that first album “Heart.” Take a listen below!

Ian Munsick – I See Country

Ian Munsick, who released a self-titled EP in 2017 and won iHeartRadio’s Rocky Mountain Song of the Year with “Horses Are Faster”, and who you’ve heard here on Now Country 104.7 (Humble), has released his debut album today, called Coyote Cry.

This album is an introduction to this upcoming Nashville-based artist…and a good one!

“Coyote Cry is a soundtrack for the modern western lifestyle,” Munsick said in a press release. “A firm handshake between cowboy and hippy, traditional and contemporary and everything in between.”

Listen to “I See Country” below and the Coyote Cry album here.

Quinton Blair – Wild Horse Rider

“Wild Horse Rider” is the follow-up to a song with a hear for silence “Something To Me” from four-time Manitoba Country Music Association (MCMA) award-winner Quinton Blair.

The song was conceived at a rodeo dance in Marchand, Manitoba, when Blair took a request to play the Kenny Rogers smash hit “The Gambler,” when a fight broke out over an arm-wrestling match in the corner. Blair didn’t skip a beat and continued the show despite the melee on the dance floor. The startled audience enjoyed a serenade that included “Blue Eyes Crying in the Rain,” “Till I Can Gain Control Again,” “Seven Spanish Angels” and “When You Say Nothing At All.”

Brett Young – You Got Away With It

As momentum continues for Brett Young’s latest single, “Lady,” continues, today (Feb 26) he previews a new song called “You got Away With It.”

“We’ve been recording a ton of music over the last year and I couldn’t wait any longer to share some of the material from this new chapter,” He says. “’This song was a blast to write, and ultimately pushed me into a bit of a new sonic territory in the studio that I’m really proud of.”

Take a listen below.

Track45 – Little Bit More

Track45, from Mississippi, released their Small Town EP in the fall and have now returned with more. Siblings Ben, KK, and Jenna Johnson have released a second EP called Big Dreams which includes the previously released tracks as well as two more.

This new one highlights what’s already been described as their “contagious energy.” It’s called “Little Bit More” and tells the story of being grateful for what you’ve got but not being ashamed to say, “I could use just a little bit more.”

Elle King & Miranda Lambert – Drunk (And I Don’t Wanna Go Home)

Our last First Play Friday song comes from singer, songwriter, television personality, and actress, Elle King and Miranda Lambert, who have teamed up for a new duet.

This is their second recorded collaboration after the CMA-winning cover of “Fooled Around and Fell in Love.”

“The true story of this song sums up our wild friendship,” King said in a release. “Miranda is someone I have looked up to as a songwriter, musician, performer, and human being for a long time. So our tumbleweed snowball story of getting to know each other is the ultimate real deal kinda thing. Nobody revs me up, kicks my ass on stage, or treats me more like family than Miranda Lambert.”
